What is the Innovation Motor Warranty?
The Innovation Motor Warranty — sold under the MotorMend name — is a mechanical breakdown warranty for used vehicles in South Africa. It covers the repair and/or replacement of a defined range of components as a result of unforeseen and unexpected mechanical or electrical failure or breakdown, so you are not left paying costly repair bills yourself once your vehicle’s factory warranty has expired.
It is a once-off warranty: you pay a single upfront premium for two years of cover, rather than a monthly instalment. The MotorMend Warranty is offered across five plan tiers, each with its own eligibility rules and cover limits, so cover can be matched to the age and mileage of your vehicle.
The warranty covers items only where there has been a mechanical breakdown. It does not cover maintenance, servicing or wear and tear. For your policy to remain active, the vehicle must be serviced according to the manufacturer’s specification at an Authorised Dealer, Administrator-Approved Dealer or an Independent Service Provider (ISP) — non-adherence could render the policy null and void.
What Does the MotorMend Warranty Cover?
The MotorMend Warranty covers 48 component categories, from major driveline items such as the engine, gearbox and differential through to electronics and value-added benefits like towing and overnight accommodation. The table below lists every covered category, what is included under each, and the maximum cover limit (Limits of Liability) for each of the five plans. All limits are shown per component category.

Limits of Liability shown per component category (VAT inclusive). Where damage to a covered component is caused by the failure of another covered component, the higher of the two benefits applies.
Wear and tear
Mechanical failure resulting from fair wear and tear is covered by this warranty, but limited to the specific stated benefit category as listed in the Limits of Liability table above. Normal wear-and-tear components that are not listed as covered components — such as brake pads, brake discs, wiper blades and the vehicle battery — are not covered.

The MotorMend Warranty is a single once-off premium covering two full years. The plan you qualify for depends on your vehicle’s age and mileage — and each plan carries a substantial amount of built-in cover. Total cover value is the combined maximum Limits of Liability across all 48 component categories (VAT inclusive). The Extended plan provides unlimited cover on major components. Duration: 2 years / unlimited kilometres (Extended plan: 2 years / 250 000 kilometres). The basis of compensation depends on the benefit for which the vehicle qualifies at the time of application.

Am I Eligible?
Your vehicle qualifies if:
- It is a passenger or light commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle mass of less than 4 200 kg
- It is not a taxi, rental vehicle, rebuilt (Code 3), modified vehicle or used in any form of motoring competition or sport
- It falls within the age and mileage limits of one of the five plans (see pricing above)
- It is serviced and maintained to the manufacturer’s specification at an Authorised Dealer, Administrator-Approved Dealer or an Independent Service Provider (ISP)
- A Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) is carried out by an Authorised Dealer at the time of purchase of the policy

How to Claim on Your Innovation Motor Warranty
The MotorMend claims procedure runs through the dealership handling the repair:
Claims steps
- Book the vehicle in as normal for repairs at an Administrator-Approved or Manufacturer-Approved dealership.
- Tell the dealership the vehicle is covered by the MotorMend Warranty and provide your policy number.
- The dealership submits the claim to the Administrator.
- If the claim is valid, the Administrator authorises it and issues an authorisation number.
- Once the repair is complete, the dealership sends the original invoice to the Administrator, who effects payment.
Repairs must not be undertaken without the prior authorisation of the Administrator. If a claim is not valid under the terms and conditions of the MotorMend Warranty, it is the owner’s responsibility to pay the cost of the repair.

The FSP and its representatives do not render ongoing financial services; it remains the client’s responsibility to submit any claims and/or amendments of the product to the supplier. The Innovation MotorMend Warranty is a once-off product: you pay a single upfront premium for two years of cover, with no monthly debit order.
